Wine and food are inseparable in the opinion of this oenophile. Whether you are eating out or simply having a home cooked meal, a bottle of decent wine always seems to... pardon the Emeril cliche... take it up a notch. A day dedicated to wine tasting usually begs for dinning out as well, and in the best possible scenario, the restaurant will feature local wines and recommended food pairings for each. Well that mentality seems to be materializing here in the Niagara region. Apparently Lockport's foremost restaurants and Niagara County wineries are discussing a joint effort to introduce a "Flight of Five Gourmet Meals" that will slingshot this area into the trendy dining arena and I think it's one of the best news items I've read in a while. The tentative agreement was to kick off an event of this type on Sept 29 and 30, the same weekend the Niagara Wine Trail hosts the "Harvest Festival" promotion.
